Columbia University in the City of New York is a private Ivy League research university located in New York City. It was established in 1754 on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan and is the oldest institution of higher education in New York, as well as the fifth-oldest in the United States. It’s one of nine colonial colleges founded prior to the Declaration of Independence – seven of which belong to the Ivy League – and is ranked among the top ten universities in the world.
Columbia University Online has several programs available to students, in areas of study including business, environmental sustainability and health information technology. They are all specialized, career-oriented programs that prepare students for graduate school – many of which can be used towards completing a master’s degree at Columbia. They can be taken either completely online, or in a hybrid format, with evening class and weekend fieldwork options.
