Illinois Institute of Technology is a private research university located in Chicago, Illinois. Its history can be traced back to 1890, but its present name was adopted upon the merger of the Armour Institute and Lewis Institute back in 1940.

Students can earn an undergraduate or graduate degree partially or completely online through IIT, with courses taught by the same faculty and following the same curriculum. Interestingly, online graduate students can choose from a thesis or non-thesis degree option, and undergraduate students can choose their major or enroll as undecided.
